So I had the same question. I want to get pregnant, but I have PTSD. And am on a ton of medications. So I've been weening off the meds. Not fun.

I also started exposure therapy. And I'm having a really hard with it. I'm starting to feel really depressed.

I'm terrified of being pregnant without meds.

I would like to make an suggestion if you gals want to talk about PTSD and pregnancy I would like you to start your own new thread. Hi Missy, welcome to the forum, this will be a great place for you and all your questions. Just a question : does your GP know you are weaning off from the meds to get pregnant ? Asking because my mother (WW II survivor - raped) has PTSD and I have to admit that it was quite something for us kids. Get supportive professionals to help take your decisions ... this will not only help you in your parenting, but also as a great education to your futur children.

Hi froggie, please see my comment above yours, I ask please anyone who want to discuss PTSD and pregnancy start new thread. This is focusing on PMS and Period...

I openly admit I turn into this crazy person no one knows and it's horrilbe. It's actually when I'm most likely to try and take my own life as I just can't cope with everything. I now lock myself away from people and nasty things I could hurt myself with. I'm calmer and I'm not screaming at everyone so happier family.

I never had it bad during my periods, but my second pregnancy with my son I felt so angry it was awful.

I haven't had a period since I was 35 and sure don't miss it one bit. I was very young when I had my hysterectomy.

I read a news brief today that said researchers found women a connection between estrogen levels during the month and PTSD symptoms. Startle response, as one measure, was worse when estrogen levels were low--just before and during your period.

Mainly PMS (terrible!) but also in the first two days of the period. In general, my immune system goes down the drain in PMS each month and so does my PTSD flare up. I know, so I adjust my life as much as possible.
