AI Vs Traditional journaling

Session in morning and I will bring it up with her too but thought I'd ask on here too.
What's your thought on AI journaling V's traditional? I mean, I don't journal using pen and paper....I use notes on my phones but have seen ads for AI journaling and think that might be helpful too....you know the prompts and feedback to what I'm writing. Don't know whether I might prefer that way 🤷‍♀️

Don't would be my suggestion and dont do it on your phone either not for therapy or trauma journaling.

Better to keep physical copies, secure and safe then dispose of them properly when therapy is finished. Good therapists suggest the same.

Seems like it isn't but it's too easy for others to access digital copies and use them negatively. If they mean bad intent they will interpret them in the worst way possible. Some things only make sense with the context of current therapy.

Your therapy, your journal do it in the most secure way possible. I learnt the hard way.

I wouldn’t personally use AI journaling, I do physical/art/offline digital/online digital (here).

Keeping journal stuff helps me to formulate/find out what’s important to bring up in therapy ATM. That’s where I get my feedback from.

AIs that communicate with you tend to be very yes-manish, and I don’t like that. I like the (potential) genuineness of human feedback, there’s sincerity and experience behind it, and better image of you and your situation individually.

i don't flatter myself enough to believe anyone would want to steal the digitized portions of my mixed media journal, so the security aspect doesn't worry me, but the practice of using machines as a substitute for human interaction has already helped enable more than one psychotic break in my life. in my own case, the pros accused me of being a work-a-holic using work to avoid emotions.

but that is me.

steadying support while you sort your own case.

I’ve used both, and found them both helpful for different reasons.

AI journalling can be a bit hit and miss depending on the platform you use - some of the crappy ones are just plain annoying. But the better quality ones can challenge and redirect some thinking patterns, similarly to what you might try and achieve through psychotherapy (without all the benefits of the human relationship).

I’ve used traditional journalling my whole life. I have multiple. They help me purge & work through thoughts that are causing problems, and explore what’s going on for me in a completely uncensored way.

So, some differences, depending on what you use journaling for - which may only become apparent if you have a bit of an experiment.
