Last movie or tv series you watched?

Pluribus, on Apple TV.
At first it felt like a rehash of The Andromeda Strain, but as it progressed it now feels like it incorporates plots of maybe a half dozen classic sci-fi stories.
So far, well written and I think very well acted by the few actors with dynamic characters. You will see if you watch it, could be great, could go south, betting on great.

Currently watching The Name of the Rose on DVD.

I thoroughly enjoyed the novel and the film is not without its charms. I love books to the point of it being likely pathological in some way, as well as a good mystery.

Red Sonja. The new one.

It reminds me of those made-for-TV films on satellite TV in the early 2000s. I really want to enjoy it, but just can't get into it for some reason.

I think it just feels very generic, without any real Hyborian vibe. Yeah, the Arnie Conan
films were a bit squiffy, lore-wise, but what a vibe they had.

(Edit: I am aware that Sonja is technically a Marvel character and not one of Howard's own, but she was created as part of the Hyborian mythos.)

Maybe the lack of a Basil Poledouris score hurts it?

The only reason I've persisted this far is my weakness for redheaded warrior women. A weakness which has caused me no end of trouble in real life, for what it's worth.

Batman (1966) Season two. Like late '60's BBC Sci Fi - cheaply made and campy somehow.....

Willow.

I love that film. It has everything; a great soundtrack, epic story, a scoundrel who is actually a good guy at heart, a two-headed whatthef*ck and, last but not least, a heartrendingly beautiful redhead in armour.

I'm watching a lot of fantasy just now. Fantasy is really the only genre that actually presents the the things I value as being worthwhile. Everything else always mocks them as naive at best, if not false and self-serving. I actually believe in that stuff, though, you know?

There's a reason I'm called Paladin.

Bah. I'm three quarters of the way down a bottle of ginger wine. Not the kind of strong ginger I want, but it's what's available. Ah ha ha.
