Help!

I'm still having problems with bugs crawling all over me. So, I tried what everyone suggested. Applying lotion, listening to relaxing music, making sure there were NO REAL BUGS on me.

It was sooooo bad this afternoon! They were crawling all over me! I thought taking a shower would help. I have one of those Loofah sponges and I put soap on it and I was scrubbing and scrubbing and scrubbing away. It just made it worse. Nothing helped. Then when I went to rinse off. The water stung my skin. This is awful. I'm about to lose my mind. When I got out I changed all my clothes. That didn't help either. THIS SUCKS!!

Anybody experience this. Anbody relate? I'm about ready to check myself inpatient. I can't cope. Between the wanting to cut and now this.....I'm going "mad".

What kind of Loofah do you use? Do you use it everyday. Is it plastic or the real type of sponge from the ocean? I remember seeing somewhere the the real sponge from the ocean collected some kind of bacteria if not allowed to dry completely between uses. Maybe that could be a cause of the itching feeling. I don't know, just an idea.

Thanks Niki -

No, it's the plastic kind. Maybe I should get a new one though just in case.

Or you could be having an allergic reaction to something else around you. Sorry that it's driving you crazy. You should really go to see a doctor so he/she can give you advice or a perscription cream - anything! That would drive me out of my mind also!!!!! :(

That SO sucks, Heather! I second the doctor idea, see if you can get in ASAP because obviously it's that or checking yourself into a hospital, at least till they figure it out.

My doctor hates me. I checked my skin and I don't see a rash. Maybe I'm allergic to "getting better".

Could it possibly be like a different phase of getting better? like instead of feeling hands between my legs. Now, I'm feeling bugs all over my body....like one things being replaced by another? Or is that ludicrous?

Same thing with the nightmares. I'm not having rape nightmares anymore. I'm having other kind of icky dreams.....again one thing being replaced by another. But it's not as bad.

Does any of this make sense?

I think it COULD be that you're getting better - that you're no longer reliving the same trauma but just expressing general anxiety/fear. That's totally plausible.

Why'd you say your doctor hates you?

There are no bugs on you. Anxiety can cause tingling, crawling sensations in the skin. This is what you feel. You need to just tell yourself there are no bugs, it's due to anxiety. At least then you'll know you're not "going mad." Sometimes getting so worked up about it makes it worse.

Also, the water stung your skin because you probably rubbed yourself raw. Try not to pay so much attention to the "bugs" and you might find it goes away.

I was referring to my primary doctor. He's just been acting like an idiot towards me ever since I had a problem with him awhile back. So, I have been avoiding going to him. *sigh* And these people call themselves professionals.

Heather:

I'm sorry that you're having problems with your skin. I agree with NIKI- try getting a new loofah (or use a washcloth). Check your bath stuff, you could have some kind of reaction. You could check out the 'health food' stores. For me that kind of stuff is fun- I like looking at the different 'natural' soaps, etc. They have plenty of 'all natural' items.

I think if you can find a way to calm yourself when you feel the itching, then it may go away (if it's due to anxiety). Do you have a pet you could pat?- a teddy to hug?- drawing to do to distract yourself?- take a nature walk?- sip a cup of tea?- eat chocolate?

I'd also check with your doc to make sure that you are ok- even if he is a 'butthead.'

Please take care of yourself- you deserve it.

Fire your primary care doctor and get one you can trust. Can't emphasize that enough - I mean, this is your health we're talking about! The internet can only get you so far.

I think you are right Alli because now whenever I'm stressed I feel the bugs crawling all over my arms and back. It's horrible! I have to change my clothes. Calming myself down helps a little.
