This is a reminder to members that this section is for 'significant' accomplishments and/or success which will/can inspire or motivate other PTSD Sufferers.

Not to diminish any achievement; those threads which are about minor accomplishments or successes should be in Chit Chat or General PTSD thank you (depending on their nature).

Threads not fitting the criteria will be moved to other forums by Editors.

Thank you.

Can I just add, that by significant, we mean well developed successes, things that have become a very significant change in your life, and well developed accomplishments - continued success over weeks/months, rather than one off successes. I'm not knocking small successes, they are a very important part of making those success long term, and those smaller successes can be discussed in the other forums here. Please try to keep this forum, for the big stuff, the life changing stuff, that shows to others that PTSD can be very successfully managed.

Thanks
CB

Small successes are part of the journey and are progress with healing and dealing with PTSD. The success we refer to here (in this section) are permanent or significant changes to management of your PTSD, its symptoms or overcoming a debilitating trigger which hindered you in participating in life.

Let me give you an analogy for an example. Say I was an alcoholic - in that I dealt with my symptoms by drinking every day and had done so by years. Progress would be that I had only had a drink in 2 days out of the past week or even cut down. Success would be when hadn't had a single drop of alcohol for 3 months and were determined not to use it as a coping mechanism anymore.

Thank you for drawing my attention to this as a new member. Though as I had mentioned only recently formally diagnosed, however I am nearly half way thru my life & my trauma goes back to childhood. My success with exercise, therapy animals and relaxation techniques has been a constant in my life and without it I would not be here today. I am unclear about this as we increase our capacity to manage symptoms, doesn't the medical evidence suggest PTSD is life long & it is the management of symptoms which creates success? So wouldn't all successful management experiences be useful to hear? Just wondering as these might inspire others to try something they haven't considered.

Yes and agree wholeheartedly with you FromTheInsideOut. This is just not the section for them. This section is to be used for inspiring out of the ordinary achievements and success. What you outline is what I would consider great management and growth with your illness. Well done. Feel free to share this in the PTSD Discussion area.
