Hello,

I would be glad to know if any of you tried to do "The Journey" sessions with a therapist and what good or bad things it brought to you concerning your trauma(s). The Journey is a technic developped by Brandon Bays, who appears to have been able to cure herself from a cancer.

I did 3 "Journeys" one month and half ago, after having had 3 devastating despair crisis three months ago. I know now what is to pass out from too strong emotional pain, just curling up on the floor whimpering without being able to do anything against it.

Only 3 months ago I did not know even the tiniest thing about PTSD and C-PTSD, I did not know about what and why that happened to me, I just thought I was going crazy. Because there are no psy nor serious hospital in the 3rd world country I live I could not call the hospital, and I could not find any therapist. I did not know either about "The Journey", I just had to find a strong and fast solution to stop these crisis, a solution that could be used through Skype as I had no choice from where I live! I chose that technic because it was all a question of facing the root of the emotions instead of trying to escape them and resisting to them, it just "spoke" to me.

If there would not have been improvement after the sessions, I had decided to kill myself, because the pain was just so unbearable during these crisis. That decision probably made me get the courage to face what I had escaped since 38 years. Amongst many other emotions, I have BEEN ABLE TO face the terror that was one of the roots, to face that has been the hardest moment of my life. But now , I KNOW that I want to live, and also, thanks to these sessions, I have started to learn how to stay in charge and not react as a self-hated victim not even being aware of it.

"The Journey" has been a powerful technic to me, even if it has not been a complete miracle, I have so much work to do on myself now, and ups and downs are big... But, no more crisis up to now, so my goal has been reached.

My life has drastically changed now. I am a musician and a music teacher and going to sign up at University when I am back in France in a few months, to study psychology from scratch at 47 years old!

The reason why I would really like you to share your experiences and opinions about "The Journey" is because I would also like to learn this technic, and before I spend that time and (big) money, it is important for me to know any negative and positive things from others' points of view.

I think that one can do only what he is READY to do, and facing root trauma emotions might be destroyful if it is forced. "The Journey" might be dangerous for some people here, even if it worked for me. Please be cautious.

I know about The Journey although I haven't tried it myself. I'm glad it's helped you so much.

I'm sorry I can't offer any thoughts about it, other than to say I completely agree with things that you've posted here. I think what's important is that a process makes sense to you and you're able to take care of yourself as things come up - on your own, or together with a therapist. Caution and self care are really important.

Do you mean you're thinking of becoming a practitioner of the Journey Process? If so, then I think as well as learning what's needed to certify you also would need to make sure you're very strong in yourself and can protect yourself from being too affected by what comes up with clients. When I lived abroad I had to do some counselling. I was given training, and it was only first line counselling. If someone had serious issues I referred them to a psychotherapist. I still found it difficult to deal with some of the things I was told, like one man seeking help for abusing his wife and another worried about his health following a sex tourism trip.

It sounds like you have a healthy approach, though, especially if you're going to study psychology too.

Thank you Hashi for your answer.

Yes, I was asking that question about "The Journey" thinking about becoming a practitioner. Before I realized a few weeks ago that there was still a lot of work to do on my healing process I was so enthusiastic about that technic that I wanted to sign up as soon as possible. Now, I will go by steps and see if a first "Journey" seminar can motivate me enough to sign up for learning to be a practitioner (so, not anymore with a one to one therapist).

One thing I like with the "Journey" certification program is that the program itself seems to lead you to healing at the same time as you learn. So, I guess that it makes you more and more be able to deal with others serious issues... only guessing though, and anyway it would seem logical to me that listening all the time to people telling their bad stories and expressing their bad emotions can make any therapist have to work on that with another therapist here and there.

A main reason why I was asking about "The Journey" on this forum is that I would like to know through others' experience how deep the healing from PTSD and C-PTSD can/could be for them. It seems that no "PTSD people" who come here have tried that technic or would like to share about it. Though, the fact that there is no bad report about it may be a good sign. If such a technic had been reinforcing the illness of some persons instead of healing it we would probably know it by now on this thread!

I wish you the so very best along your path Hashi.
