I rarely sleep very well at all and only ever remember waking up "refreshed" a few times in my life. I usually wake up at least as tired as when I went to bed! That part has been very difficult for me, both emotionally and obviously physically. I do not like taking meds for sleeping, but I really have to every couple of nights, just to maintain some sort of sanity.
For me, I don't really care too much about doors being open or closed, windows being open or closed. I do prefer darkness, but I really am not too picky. I can not sleep in any given environment! If I take a couple of Ambien, then I have a better chance of actually getting a few hours' rest, but still wake up early and groggy, so not much help so far in the sleep department. Hard to shut the ol' brain off after bedtime!
