What is going on in the USA this year? My heart breaks for all the victims of the mass shootings this year.

Today there was a mass shooting at an elementary school. Estimated 20 dead at least 10 children. How on earth can anyone do this? What a sick society we live in.

To all the family’s affected by this my deepest condolences for you loss. May healing be obtained and counseling be provided.:cry:

I don't understand, nor do I ever want to understand, how a society can't figure out something with such a simple solution. Simple solution, might be more complicated to enforce and carry out, but how can you not try?! Is there seriously not enough ways for people to harm each other without putting a gun in their hands?!!?!?

Everything I've seen on here, the majority of the developed world understands this, why is it that American society can not figure it out? How many of your family members have to die before you understand this!?

America sickens me, to no end. If Canada starts going the way of the states I will be moving to Europe. I'd rather live on the streets in a country with gun control than in the biggest house in the world in a country with such screwed up values!

Kudos to the teachers who's quick thinking saved the lives of many children.

It is hard to understand why anyone would hurt children, but I am beginning to wonder if this string of shootings has other connections. I'm heartbroken and terrified, having preschool aged children myself. It's hard to know the right choices to make for your family's safety and future when the obvious ones are in direct conflict.

I am thankful I live in the UK, where the gun laws are tight.

OK we do have to odd one, but nothing like what goes on else where in the world.

I keep seeing the interview of the little girl witness and thinking... will the families of the kids know how to be supportive?

Omg, this isn't real. This is so horrible. This is so sad! I am so sorry. So many crimes in this world, so frightening, so disgusting.

If the laws reflected the crime, perhaps the criminals would think twice? If you steal, cut your hands off. If you molest, cut your d*ck off (sorry guys). If you murder children, off with your head.

My sympathy to ALL of those involved and the community that will have to face that tragedy in the days to come. I am so sad that our children have to grow up worrying that schools and movie theaters are not safe places. :(
