Ha! Too funny- yes, it can be tough in groups can't it? The last one I joined was nice for awhile, I'm a big sucker for 'nice', then at the end the 'chair' clapped her hands and said 'OK! Now for our critiques!'. Some lovely, sensitive-looking fellow crept to the front of the room, put a painting ( I think a landscape ) on an easle. HOOboy, the next 30 minutes were awful!! His balance sucked, his choice of wash was amatuer, he 'needed' to spend more time on the sketch, blahblahblah. It was a slaughter. It was actually quite a pleasant painting with a peaceful, mono-chromatic winter tone to it, even if it wasn't, thought the idea was to HELP. Wowza. I'm truly truly not being hateful-honest- it's just that I've been at this for awhile and one of my 'things' is that a group of artists is not the fun, frowsy, happy-go-lucky, colorful roomful of folks one would imagine! Boy- assasins in Burkies and organically grown grass sweaters.
Hee- oh I might, think I've posted here somewhere but will dig out some pics soon again. I haven't done anything 'serious' for years. My niche is follky, whimsy, bright 'stuff', both paint and simple mosaic, which sells! :) Went through a phase of adding ornamentals to the painted furniture I do, but since it alarmed hubby with the use of power tools, abandoned that- glass tile days are funny enough! Quite seriously generally have small bandaids on 4 or 5 fingers for a few weeks.
Must get over to the 'Art On' thread- love to browse art here!! I take it yours is there? There seem to be an awful lot of astonishingly gifted photo buffs here, too- always a fascination for me because I just do NOT have 'IT'. Can't take a good shot to save myself despite all the college classes. You either have 'IT' or you don't- hee- I do NOT, hence the fascination.
