Novice at the new camera. I hope this works.

This is the "after" pic of the tree. May be blurry because the tree rotates and the switch to stop the rotation is buried in presents. We have an extension cord with a foot switch to turn it on and off. Wish I could have posted a video but I'm to lazy to do a You Tube account, LOL.

Between these 2 pics, there are at least 3 forum-related items. Those sending will perhaps be able to pick them out. One hint on the pic of the entire tree: The Dr. is IN! :roflmao:

That paper mache' Santa was purchased at one of the first Christmases with my wife, so probably 1977 - 1979 time frame.

They were that kind.

The more I think of this simple story, the more it is kind is symbolic to me. I have posted before that one of the amazing things of this community is that you can read and respond to so many things but also that there are things that you can "take to the bank". If you allow your "radar" to pick them up, there are little life lessons all around us.

This one is many-faceted. First, that if you allow yourself to respond to someone's need, a simple act of kindness can have effects for a LONG time after. Effects you cannot even imagine at the time you are doing it.

Second, that it is OK to receive gifts. We are all worthy of receiving kindness from another. That can be hard when PTSD is involved. It is my hope that everyone can at least try to trust enough to accept that they are worthy of kindness, in spite of traumas that try to push that fact aside.

Third, and this is obvious to me, is that it does not have to just be at Christmas. I try to remember these things every day. I am human and don't meet my expectations every day but, as a human being, I try to pick myself up whenever I falter and keep going the best I can. Every day. THAT, is my Christmas wish today. That we all just try to do the best we can to give and receive.

Thanks so much Britt!
