Hi everyone!
So, my eating habits are terrible and I'm trying to eat healthy. My grandmother moved in with us in October, and has been making me eat breakfast. Now I can't live without it. I've also decided that I need more fruit in my diet, since my fruit just consists of a glass of apple juice. So I thought, SMOOTHIES!
And then I remembered- I HATE fruit. I LOVE green apples, green grapes, blueberries are good. I cannot even smell a banana or I will gag, same with oranges.
I thought it'd be easier to start having fruit if I put it in smoothies. I'm just starting right now, but I'd love to share a few recipes and hope I get some back! The best part about smoothies is that you can make them up as long as you have a blender and fruit. :D
My recipes
Apple Blueberry Smoothie (Makes 2 normal ones or 1 big one)
Ingredients:
1) 1 green apple-don't peel it (peel it if you wish, but fibre comes from the peel, so I keep it on.), take out the core, then chop it up into tiny cubes.
2) 20 blueberries
3) 1 cup of chocolate milk- or white milk. I like chocolate!
4) two tablespoons of Greek Yogurt-vanilla flavoured or plain to help with the thickness
5) maple syrup- about 1/3 of a cup, makes it sweet!
Directions: Put in blender and blend until you think it's smooth.
That gives you 2 servings of fruit, and about 1 1/2 servings of dairy products (I'm using Canada's Food Guide)
Chocolate Chip Smoothie (Makes two normal size or 1 big size)
Ingredients:
1) 1 green apple-don't peel it (peel it if you wish, but fibre comes from the peel, so I keep it on.), take out the core, then chop it up into tiny cubes.
2) 20 blueberries
3) 4 strawberries (cut up into quarters and don't forget to chop of the green leaf at the top and throw it out!)
4) 1 cup chocolate milk-or white, I like chocolate.
5) two heaping tablespoons greek yogurt
6) maple syrup-about 1/4 cup
7) a quarter of a bag of chocolate chips (40 chocolate chips)
Directions: Blend until you think it's smooth.
That gives you two and a half servings of fruit, and 1 and a half servings of dairy products (courtesy of Canada's Food Guide again)
Happy inventing and happy eating! :D
