Glad you think so I really rate PODS and the ASCA one seems equally 'on it', although I'm less familiar with them. PODS are involved with the Dissociative Survivors Recognition campaign which is having a national meeting in London on March 9th (see events tab).

ASCA do some very very good work, including auspicing/developing and public/political presentation of this excellent document. What's more, they do a fairly good job of keeping themselves free of the political agendas that drive some other, apparently similar, advocacy groups here in Aus...

I had some very minimal involvement in the development of the practice guidelines document and work closely with a few people who had much more significant involvement. While much of the trauma-informed policy recommendation is unlikely to ever get the political leverage needed for large-scale implementation (and remains closer to idealistic than realistic in my opinion), the intent and content of the document are outstanding and the treatment guidelines very close to the mark.

There is still so much misunderstanding and appalling therapeutic service delivery out there when it comes to complex trauma, and none of that is going to change overnight, but even if just for the sake of validation, it's good to see a succinct account of how it really is, and to hope that if even a few practitioners out there learn a bit as a result of reading this, then it's a few more than we currently have.

Glad to hear your thoughts on the matter, it's refreshing to discuss policy which is correct and widely endorsed!Who would have thought it possible? Crazy talk?! :wacky:

I'm glad they went for idealistic cos lets face it even after all this time, a lot of the progress in this area has naturally been research and not policy or implementation, so if they're going to attempt pioneering an approach 'shoot for the stars' is what I say.
