Watching the englisch news yesterday. Schools closing because of snow? Gosh....we never have that in Germany. I have to travel everyday to work for 30 Minutes 1 way and I never missed a day because of snow. But in Germany it is law to have wintertyres (does not save you from idiots on the road) but they help alot.

I know myvetswife. I little snow and the inrfastructure collapses - a little pathetic really.

I think the problem is, we don't have enough snow to justify the expenditure that other countries spend.

School open again today, no trouble really. Hoping it melts soon though, fed up with the cold and school being open means I have to go outside when I'd rather cuddle up with a mug of hot chocolate!

Another 2 inches for us last night.

I ordered something off ebay which I needed for H to take to my daughters tomorrow morning early. Of course, no post again. We had post yesterday, the first since last Thursday but now postie won't be out:mad:.

He is either amazing or dumb. He is almost at his incorrigible self, he is even using his sore leg to scratch his ear. We have had the most wonderful cuddles.

Back on topic. Much to my surprise, the bin men have just been, still no sign of the postie though.

Managed to get to therapy yesterday, they were running some trains although the timetable's much reduced. I allowed so much extra time, I got there more than an hour early!

I had some anxiety about being able to get back afterwards, but it was OK. A big relief. It was quite a lot of added stress, and therapy's already intense enough at the moment.

We're melting today. I can see pavement again.

Has anyone looked at the forecast for next week? Where I am, it's predicted to be warm next week, and 13 degrees celsius by Friday 1st Feb!!!

Schools closing because of snow? Gosh....we never have that in Germany.

As others have said, in many parts of the country we don't usually have enough snow to justify having a lot of measures in place for it - we just let it cause chaos for a week or two if we get it. Which is why we're all talking about it - in some areas, it's not very usual to have snow like this!

It's freezing up here (between minus 3 and zero, according to the internet). I have had the heating on for a few hours, and my feet on my hot water bottle, but still chilly. I want to take my hot water bottle out with me :( I wish I didn't have to go out in it. Poor snowman in the garden's head has fallen off. He looks how I feel at the moment :rolleyes:. Pavements are still snowy.

@Ice_Fire: We have a great postie in Edinburgh too, but a rubbish council who aren't bothering to grit anywhere except the bus route. Which means the bucket men can't get to my street. They delivered a big bag of grit to the street (by deliver, I mean dumping and the bag still being open, so it just got snowed in), but what am I meant to do with that? I have no shovel, hahaha. We're not forecast for any more snow though, so hopefully it'll melt by bucket day.

I recommend a hot water bottle everyone, along with your soup or hot chocolate. And gloves. And scarves. And ten layers of clothing. Off into the cold outdoors I go. I would freeze to death in a colder country, I really would.
