Our Pets

If my dog, Buddy, is not right there in bed with me to greet me when I wake up I miss her. She may come to me after I get out of bed, but it is not the same. I like the slurppy kisses I get when she realizes I'm up and the way she pounces over by me. I like knowing she is waiting there for me.

Here are my two kitties. Look mine loves to lay on pieces of paper too. They are both 17. We got them about a month after we got married.

We just noticed that my cat, Sparkles, is losing hair. He has a raw patch, though not dry, but then his whole right shoulder area is sparse with fur. At first I thought the cats got in a fight, but there are no scratches or broken skin. The raw patch is about the size of a quarter. I'm nervous because of the rest of the skin starting to show. He also looks like he is losing weight. He is about 13. Everything else seems fine. I think I will call the vet tomorrow. I'm worried. Not just about his health but the cost. Not a good time financially.

I called the vet and set up an appointment with the doctor I feel most comfortable talking to about the money. I think they are all competent to take care of my Sparkles, but I have to be able to bring up the money or lack of money, so they don't over test. As long as Sparkles doesn't act sick, I'll be able to keep my worry at bay.

Thank you both for your responses.

@Movin'On, that's what my sister said. She also suggested, thyroid issues, or hot spot. I don't know that he is incessantly scratching because he tends to stay away from the dogs during the day and only comes around me when they are gone or it's time to sleep. Thank you for your response. All things for me to keep in mind when I see the Vet on Friday.

Well, went ahead with the blood work. Sparkles lost another pound from last year. Possible that he may have hyperthyroidism, or allergies. Should find out on Monday. They did a skin scraping to make sure there were not mites, or something like that. There were not.

He said that sometimes cats lose weight as they get older. Sparkles is 13. Well I hope he doesn't lose anymore, he looks bony.
