ISTJ

I hadn't come across this before, but the description sounds very like me

quiet and reserved individual interested in security and peaceful living.
strongly-felt internal sense of duty
methodical in approach, can generally succeed at any task
very loyal, faithful, and dependable.
great importance on honesty and integrity.
also usually have an offbeat sense of humor and can be a lot of fun

I've done this a few times over years and I always get the same one:

I am an INFJ myself. Introverted, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging
Snap, me too. A lot of INFJs on the thread. I thought the INFJ was a rare type, but maybe that was me just trying to feel unique and special . [To quote from the website you shared Justme, it says "Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types"]

@digger :hilarious:! STGD :D.

@Lovely Jubbly I agree, where are all the extroverts?

ISFP never done this before but it says I'm a artist lol. I am. 98% for the P. That was the most extreme score the others were in the 60s and 70s. Interesting. Thanks for putting it up there.

No extroverts so far. Interesting.

Part of that is question bias. Even if someone actually is an extrovert / gets their energy from others, because of the nature of PTSD the symptoms will often mask that in how the questions are worded.

That's part of why the thunk! huge psych diagnostic tests are like 1600 questions and take hours. Sorting out symptoms from personality is a bit challenging. Especially when a thing is near.

I'm an outgoing introvert, for example. I love people, am quite gregarious, etc., but recharge during time alone.

Outgoing Extrovert - The classic. Quite rare.
Shy Extrovert - Gets mistaken for introverts. The wallflower. Wants to be a part.
Outgoing Introvert - Gets mistaken for extroverts. But needs alone time.
Shy Introvert - The classic. Loner, and thrilled about it. Quite rare.

That's the bell curve. Narrowest parts on the ends. My son is actually an outgoing extrovert which has been fascinating to watch. It is as painful & exhausting for him to be alone as it is for a shy introvert to be thrust into a crowded noisy party full of strangers and expected to talk and mingle with everyone. It took until he was 8 years old to get him to be able to spend more than 5 minutes on his own (we're talking 6 minutes, here). By age 12 usually manage 15-20 minutes alone, but it's hard, and can't be more than once or twice a day. Usually we go for 5-10 minutes an hour. Still working on it. Just because it's a useful (and sometimes necessary) tool. Watching him step into a screaming crowd of people (kids, adults, doesn't matter) is like watching a pregnant woman open a gallon of ice cream. Pure bliss & anticipation. Cat in the cream.

I'm an INFP and so is my therapist, she gave me the book to do the test with. We are the only two INFPs we know. She's a great therapist for me, works really well with me.

Can't remember what I am but I don't pay too much attention to these. In 1978 (yes 1978) the pastor my fiance and I went to to perform our wedding gave us personality tests as part of pre-marital counseling. Followed by an assessment that he had never seen 2 people with results so opposite each other. He then suggested we rethink getting married.

Of course, you can see my user name. We did get married and are still together even after some tough periods, PTSD included.

@ISupportHer The Myers Briggs book I read said that opposites had a much better chance of staying together than similar people did. It suggested that where one is lacking, the other fills in. I agree with this. My hubby and I were opposites (He died in 2005) and we were married 23 years until the day he died. I'd say you have a great foundation in your marriage, and that is why you are still together. That pastor obviously did not read their book. Or the tests he gave you were not from that book, probably by other authors.

I've taken quite a few of these tests over the years and always get INTP, which is pretty accurate, I think. As for compatibility between the types, I've always had a hard time relating to people who are S/J. My husband and friends are all N/P, though the other two traits are variable and don't seem to effect my ability to understand people.
