Hello

I am a new person. I don't know how much i will actually use this forum as I am kinda bad at committing to things.

I feel terribly guilty for even joining this site because I feel my trauma was not bad enough compared to everyone else's and also I have been doing pretty well ish with my ptsd recently.

But I thought I would give it a go. I'm leaving a really intensive day program for my ed this week so I will have less support and I am still doing trauma therapy once a week which is a real strain sometimes.

Anyway hi.

Many sufferers get the feel that their trauma isn't much compared to someone else, but there is always someone else who got it worse. But there is one thing we have in common, we are sufferers, we are survivors, we are ones who made it through, and we all share similar feelings.

You shouldn't feel guilty for joining the forums, though feeling of guilt is quite common on here. You have full right ti join here.

Just to echo what the previous posters said, it's not a contest. If it were, we'd all lose. Don't give me credit for saying that cuz that's what someone else told me in group therapy when I said something pretty close to what your post said.

The fact is that people vary a great deal, and respond to different events in very different ways. Their previous history and their life history after the trauma plays a huge part in how "severe" the PTSD can be. It's too complicated to boil it all down to simply comparing events to events.

Trauma is Trauma plain and simple..it does not have a yardstick for measurements. It is a personal thing and affects us all differently and as such that is all that matters. Getting help to get the best you can from yourself is the end goal and that is what it all comes down to. Welcome and feel free to reach out at anytime
 
Welcome Polly Pocket! I ditto on what everyone else already said. I think boards are helpful items and you finally quit feeling that your alone. All of us here suffer, you are not alone. Glad you are in therapy, that is where I get my biggest help.

Well have a look around and get comfortable.
 
Thank you guys. So touched. Feeling pretty supported already.

I logically know traumas can't be compared and shouldn't be but I can't help my feelings. I guess it's all part of the minimising that my main abuser manipulated me with. Need to work on that. But it is helpful to have it validated.
