Ptsd Myths - Can You Name More?

If you could ONLY put much more effort in it, it could go away
Who says that? Is that your interpretation of someone's words?

That isn't a myth, but not factual either. There is half truth in that. If you changed that statement to, "the more effort you put in, the more likely your outcome," that is quite accurate.

I say that because people can put negative effort into something, knowingly or unknowingly, and get negative outcome and wonder why.

If you put well balanced effort into something, your chances of a favourable outcome is high.

Anthony, I have put so much effort into getting better, I can't tell you. In some ways, I've gotten a lot better since last on the forum, but I'm still not where I used to be before PTSD. I still, hatefully, qualify for disability. Some of my symptoms have come back hard lately, partly, I think, due to increased work and partly because I had to stop Latuda, because I see now how it was really helping me, especially with sleep. I had a really hard winter with med problems, including an episode of serotonin syndrome, which took me days to recover from. I'm trying, but I'm at a loss, thus going back to therapy.

I surely believe this to be true! I sometimes get caught up in my own struggle, that i can't think straight anymore. I need people around me, who can put things in perspective for me, that's why i love this forum.

PTSD is for life... once you have it, its always there, just waiting to raise its ugly little head and try to take you down again. Don't beat yourself up, you have PTSD... the only thing you can do is to do your best to fight back and take control of your life. You're doing that, and that's all that matters.
