Both sides have ridiculous agendas to futher their own self interests. Anyone with a line to tow usually has their ears shut and mouth open, not conducive to solving anything...like any government ever solved anything, anyway :rolleyes:

like any government ever solved anything, anyway

I don't know about that, man. Having enough organized & cooperating with each other govts that we're in places we can do polemics about their uselessness? To me looks pretty useful & effective & needed in function & important in the long haul.

Invective, ad hominem attacks, unreal solutions, unfair legislation, greed, that's what characterizes the two parties. Neither offers any real solution or engages in much research. Both are hateful in ideology, both are destructive to the U.S. I really don't know if anyone is better. I also am not sure of real solutions as I have looked at both side's arguments but rarely find hard unbiased statistics. I think that I should put up a dart board with the names of all the candidates then blindfold myself and throw a dart then just vote that way. Both parties disgust me for numerous reasons. I don't want a huge evangelical Christian theocracy (although I am Christian) nor do I want a communistic atheistic nanny state controlling every aspect of my life.

On a practical level I'd like to see strong bipartisan fact and research based compromises that are in the best interests of the citizens...:sleep:

Oh no please don't do that! What if the dart hit Trump or Cruz? Perish the thought!

Just read an article about Cruz's hissy fit/temper tantrum antics in the senate where yet again he has blocked important decisions from being made, this time the appointment of foreign dignitaries for 7 months! He was also instrumental in the lengthy government shutdown which left many government employees unable to pay their bills. No one person (few people) should have the right to hijack our government just because they don't like a policy (that otherwise passed/would pass through congress). If you want compromise and cooperation, Cruz is most definitely not your guy!

Switzerland looks good. If I had some money and could speak German then that's what I'd do.

Standard of living is quite high, medical system and care is very good, high efficiency, but ohhh so boring, so traditional, so behind, everything so expensive. Peanut butter, wow maybe one store that has one little tiny jar of it. It is noticeable not part of the EU, because it has isolated themselves with their traditions and to keep the country rich. Ninety percent of expats working in pharma are non-Swiss. Why? Because they invest so little in their own universities to keep cost low and find it cheaper to get higher educated people from other countries. It is a very sneaky country. Speaking German won't do it, you have to understand Swissgerman, basically a farmers dialect. After being here for almost 6 years I still do not understand nor speak it, while speaking high German. Sure they understand high German, but hate to speak it themselves. Of course, when I still worked in pharma I was never forced to learn it.
On the other hand if you would qualify for an open position, English will do and you can learn German -or any of the other 3 national languages, depending on the area you work- on the spot. That is what most expats do. Since they want to keep out foreigners there are now quotas in place for getting entry permits. Mixed feelings and not sure if I will stay here once more functional.

I believe that fluency in German is required to pass the citizenship test.

No citizenship test necessary. If you live and work here for 5 years you automatically get a permanent permit, but of course that is for EU-citizens, not sure how this is for US-citizens.

@Born to Run

What? So little peanut butter? What a tragedy! I'm guessing you've never had white chocolate wonderful (PB by Peanut Butter & Co, based in NYC). Ahhh, it's to die for! I wonder how expensive it would be to import peanut butter! Lol.

@Born to Run thanks for that information. I was being slightly sarcastic, in reality, I won't leave the U.S. I'm just frustrated by the extremist ideologues who can't remove the plank from their eye. I only eat a little peanut butter. :)

On a personal level, one party wants me to work 70 hours a week without benefits at $3:00/hour while currently disabled to live in a box in the street (out of public view of course) with no hope of advancing my education to get a better job ever.

The other one thinks that they own me, own my thoughts, shoves things down my throat and allows no dissent or free thinking or analysis probably still doesn't want me to get further education because then they wont be able to characterize me as a 'victim'* so they'll assure that my life is spent receiving a marginal handout and of course they know much more about me than I do.

* I don't mean trauma

:rolleyes:
