Donations 2016

It would be great to see donations increase from those who don't normally donate and are able to give just a dollar or two .... Bit like a little bit of giving back and not the usual donators holding this place up. We appreciate all the donations but it would be lovely to spread the load. If all members donated a single dollar we'd be covered for a year.

The challenge last year was great and lots of fun :joyful:- I think we need to have some momentum over a period of time.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm keen, I wanted to register as a member but the US $50 is just too much for a single mum with teenagers.

Donation days work well at my work if there's a small 'pay off', people are vain like that, they do most of their donating to get a feel good vibe.
Create a thank you thread with donors names added as they support?
Or be blatant, for example $5 pays for x or keeps us online for x amount of time.
Let people know how their dollar will be spent.

Thanks for the gentle reminder Nicolette! I will commit to two dollars and go to pay pal tomorrow. Thank you for all that you do including the staff, Anthony + donating members.

@mary1979 Memberships are not the same as donations. One allows bells and whistles for the members where the other keeps the train on track. :) FYI: There are a few threads among announcements as well that offer the upgrades to our board that our donations cover & the cost of the server. As well, a drill down into the donation's area will show the members that have donated plus there are a few threads too that extend thanks from Nicolette, Anthony and Staff.

Just takes a few dollars from everyone and we will be here next year.

You don't have to pay to be a member here, but you can get a premium subscription with added features with money. You can pay monthly instead of the entire year at once. I subscribe by the month when I can afford it, and don't when I can't.

@Recovery4Me beat me to the part about where the donations go and how much the servers costs and such.

There is a list of donors and @Nicolette always gives individual thanks to the donors. I can't always donate much above and beyond my months subscription, but when I do, she always makes me feel like my donation was truly appreciated.

Thank you for your kind words everyone. :inlove:

I'm thinking of a $1 Challenge event for a period of say 10 days (those who have donated this year are excluded) and to see how many 1 off donations we can get from members who possibly think $1 is not enough when, in reality, every dollar helps and counts. Those who regularly donate might like to contribute by encouraging? What do people think?

I think this would be great. I'm wondering if there would be a way of actually limiting the donation to $1 for a very short period (although I appreciate that could be risky) and having a real push for seeing how many dollar donations we can get in that time to show that only donating a dollar really does add up if enough people get on board with it.

Is there any way besides PP to donate on a regular basis? Sorry if this is a dumb question?
There is never a dumb question @blackemerald1 - you can simply make a one off donation by going to the donation page

I wanted to post a 'thank you' to our two anonymous donors - they are a great example of how you can give a little, or give a lot. So, thanks to anonymous $1, for backing up @Nicolette's post here, and thanks to anonymous $57, who commented that they were off from therapy this week, so gave us what they would have spent there, instead.

My only thought is that 10 days can be kind of short, especially for building momentum. But, the ring of it is nice - 10 days, 1 dollar. Helps when these things are catchy.

I thought about this and wanted to get the momentum going leading up to a date in the future. The reason why I didn't want it longer was so I could speak to @anthony to hopefully find a window during the month when there is not a cross over on the monthly contributions and I also wanted to ask him about just being able to count the number of donations over the 10 days rather than the amount which would be the surprise at the end (say some people donated $2... as the intent is the number of donations aside from regular donators).

I just realised I misread your question. I assume PP is Paypal? @anthony would you please answer.
