trafficked

Oh god, theres that word. Ive been trying to wrap my head around it for a few years now. I point blank asked my therapist if i was trafficked and he said yes and since ive been trying to wrap my head around it.

I havent clicked on the article...i will, just not a good time to but it doesnt suprise me. In the US there are a LARGE number of underage prostitutes and thats exactly what that is and even adult prostituted that are under the control of a pimp...same thing.

The sex industry is a very large one in the US and the UK and its extremely sad! I dont know that it has grown since the 80s and 90s so much as we are actually just now seeing it for what it is, human trafficking!

Ok so I was curious so I clicked on it.

"Even after escaping trafficking, the large majority of people in our sample reported that they were still afraid of their traffickers."

Its been 13 yrs since i cut contact and one of them is dead and im still terrified of them, and of everyone due to it. I has a very long lasting effect.

There are many documentries on Netflix about it in the US too and im very happy to see both countries (and in sure many others) actually finally focusing on this and calling it what it is now!

@joeylittle thank you for that! I bokmarked it.

When I first heard the term and asked my therapist about it I watched all the documentries I could find and googled stuff trying to wrap my head around it. But it seems I still sort of have a denial type reaction to it. My rational side gets it, sort of, but for some reason im wanting to still deny thats what it was.

Im just glad that its being recognize as such now. Back in the 90s it wasnt...at least not the way it is now.

validation can always be useful.

Yes, yes it can! Thank you for posting it. A duck needs to be called a duck!

I know, @FridayJones - I debated about putting it up. But, validation can always be useful.

Oh, I think it's a good thing it was posted... At a bare minimum it's super useful to know who's researching & publishing in certain areas...

More to the point, regardless of the individual articles, is that the site (Yo! Badass staff! Prepare for a double cheek kiss! Mwaaaah! Mwaaaaa!), wades through the slush piles of studies out there and post them up here for us??? All this research I/we could do for ourselves, but that we get to have you guys presenting us with a kaleidoscope of trauma-focused research in which to edify, debate, discuss? Is killer. Totally invaluable.

I'm just periodically frustrated by the need for what "should" be common sense to have to be researched in the first place.

(Sorry for my grammar-fail in P2. I can't quite get it to come out right. Braaaaainz. >.< )

You make us sound so active :) It's really just an RSS feed :ninja::coffee:
