100% Score Is Not Good...

It was interesting filling this out because I'm less depressed today than I have been the last little while, so I tried to take that into account and give an answer that remembers the depressed days as well as the less depressed ones and gave an answer somewhere in the middle. I still got 89%. So I guess that's my "normal" - which would explain a lot.

Some of the questions didn't seem indicative of depression necessarily. Just living with the effects of trauma can do some of those things to a person, and some of the questions could indicate anxiety as well as depression. I mean, the times when I feel utterly hopeless and worthless are not the times I do everything slowly. They're when I am feeling the trauma most acutely.

Is it possible to get a zero on the test? Hold on, I'm going to try this again...

Hmm....I got 83% on this which indicates severe depression. By my own standards though I would not consider myself to be severely depressed at the moment, depressed - yes, severely depressed - no. I am pretty careful about keeping a check on my level of depression too, but not generally through use of these types of test, but more through knowing myself and my own indicators.

@Stickler do you feel that 100% is accurate in terms of how you actually feel at the moment? If you hadn't taken the test would you have put yourself down as being that low?

I'm afraid the 'Do you think about HOW you could commit suicide?' one just made me laugh - Don't be silly, I already know how to do that, I don't need to waste time thinking about it....:whistling:

According to the test, I'm "severely depressed" too. But I'm not aware of being at all depressed.

I have my doubts about that test. (Had the same reaction to the suicide question as FJ, for a start.) But, there are LOTS of reason a person might be tired. Like lack of sleep? And there are other reasons for lack of sleep than depression. And, if you're actually a failure, aren't you delusional or narcissistic if you don't feel like a failure?

@Stickler , the more important thing is how do YOU think you're doing? Do you feel bad enough to have earned that 100%? If so, what are you going to do to get to a better place and what can we do to help?

I am feeling a little better after 14 hours sleep.
Yesterday I was wondering if I needed to go to the psych ER and get babysat for a bit.

I really am that depressed, I'm not really functioning.
Funny, though...my everyday scores are pretty much what most of you experience.
Since I don't really seem to be able to get much less depressed, and I've been this bad since 2009, at least, I have to just figure out how to force myself to function like this.

:meh:

Sometimes @Stickler, this is as good as it gets.. I have finally accepted this is where I am, I have all the tools to keep me out of the rabbit hole, unless a trigger sends me flying... but for the most part I am ok... doesn't mean we haven't done everything to change it... for me, I think the brain chemistry is what it is... I take antidepressants and need something new for anxiety... Klonopin was just making the depression worse... and that was chemical also... so here we are... doing the best we can... I know for me, it took a lot of courage to accept this is me, and it is not bad. I am not bad... just the hand I was dealt.... it is doable... hang in there...

If you were at the point where you were seriously considering needing to head to the ER to have them keep an eye on you, then it sounds like you may be a bit more down than is usual for you. It can be hard to tell when you feel like shite every day and you're trying to tell the difference between degrees of shiteness.

Go easy on yourself. Function is definitely a great goal, but consider everything that you manage to get done today as a win, instead of planning to move mountains straight away. It ebbs and flows, even if high tide and low tide aren't all that far apart:)
