Today I found out my mom is kicking out both my brother and I. I've been out of work since October because my ptsd symptoms have been extremely overwhelming. I'm 22 and also just started spring semester classes and don't know how I'm going to not only start a new job but also make enough money to support myself while taking these classes. I've not taken any medication for my symptoms and I've only been in therapy since October and haven't exactly opened up to my T about my eating disorder, self harm and stimulant abuse relapse. I emailed her earlier this week to tell her there are things I've not shared and want to next session but now I'm just overwhelmed by everything happening at home and don't know how I'll manage. Starting a new job right now is terrifying to me and I'm finally starting to get some where in therapy with the trauma from the sexual abuse from my childhood. Anyone have any suggestions for my situation? Anythings appreciated!

Breathe. Take it one step at a time. You can't possibly do it all at once.

Talking to your T is a good place for you to start at. They may have resources that they know of that can help you. If you're starting classes then you may be able to get some assistance in housing through your college or university or whathaveyou. They may even have a job listing or a way to help you get a job-I know my university had listings specifically for students as well as constant posting for people looking for roommates, sublets or even house sitting for empty places while they were away.

You have a lot of people available to you as someone in a low income situation and as a young student. Your T can refer you to people who may help those with similar problems finding work.

I'd suggest you start making a list about the things that you know will set you off, so you can have something that can disqualify certain jobs. Ex: if you don't like crowds, maybe a quieter job; you don't do well alone, maybe something in retail, you sleep better during the day, maybe a night shift job, etc etc.

It should help you arrow down what you should be looking for in a job before you start trying for one that you're not sure you can handle.

Do what you can, and let your support structure help you with the rest.

Here's hoping it gets better soon.
