As Vietnam veterans know, this year marks the 40th Anniversary of the war’s conclusion. American involvement ended in 1973, but the protracted conflict continued for an additional two years. This trailer is a high quality tribute to the men and women who answered the call to serve in those difficult times. The voices of heroes – from the recipients of the Medal of Honor to those living the daily dangers of an infantryman – will inspire generations to come. Check out SleepyDogTV.com for other excellent videos on this chapter in U.S. history.

Things like this remind me that:

We were sent to protect a Vietnamese government that was even more corrupt than they were incompetent.

The few good Vietnamese who really did care we left behind to be slaughtered when our government ordered us home.

We never lost a major battle. We never gave up any ground we were ordered to hold. We never failed to take ground we were ordered to take. Then we were told that WE lost the war, and were treated like dirt when we returned home.

We won our war as we took the same ground over and over again only to be order to give it back. Our country watched as our blood was spilled and felt nothing. Thanks America.

As I continue to think of this I honestly wonder how I can still love this nation, and realize that I don't. What I love are the principles upon which it was founded. I love those who sacrificed so much as they believed they were defending those great principles. I love those who try so hard to keep their dreams of a better way of life for themselves and their children.

Then I look at what we've become at the hands of greedy management and incompetent leadership and it sickens me. And, then I remember that I'm a warrior and a survivor, and my pride and honor keep me going and trying.

Wow, I can't believe it's been that long. I went over during TET '68, it seems like an ancient and far away time, yet I can replay it with the same clarity as when I was there. We were kids back then, killer kids. We've lived with that a long time. Those of us that can say, 'I'm still here' have seen and been through a lot. Warriors fight wars, politicians make them. It will be, as always, the succeeding generations job to make this country and world a better place. We continue to do what we can, but it does come time for a changing of the guard. To pass on that which we've experienced and learned. I hope I can continue to do that in some small way. Help one person, change the world.

To all the Warriors who gave their lives, To all the Warriors Here, To all the Warriors yet to come.................... Semper Fi.

I was 7 years old in '73, watched the war unfold on tv. You guys were and still are heroes to me as are all the warriors who have fought. Honestly, I knew at 7 that I wanted to do what you guys were doing, I wanted to be a soldier. I had several uncles and cousins that fought in Nam, and they were the ones I looked up too. Still do. To me you guys are the original gangsters, the OG's. I was in the national guard for several years before I went active duty army, and we had several Nam vets in my unit, (infantry), those guys were a wealth of information, and experience, hardcore warriors. I think if it weren't for the training I received from the Nam grunts, I probably wouldn't be here. Thanks to all of you for your service, and your sacrifices. WELCOME HOME! I'm proud to call you guys Brothers.(y)

I wasn't even a twinkle in my dads eye when Vietnam was going on but I want to thank you guys for doing what you did. You guys are heros it kind of reminds me of something that I thought of while I was in Afghanistan. You didn't necessarily fight for your country but fought for the guy next to you on your left and on your right. When you were over there politics didn't matter you did what you were told to and I have the utmost respect for you guys.

You didn't necessarily fight for your country but fought for the guy next to you on your left and on your right.

That is it exactly. Thank for the kind words. I'm just like you guys, just a bit older. Ok, more than a bit. Just glad to be here and kickin'.
