So, my doctor left a written perscription for me at my university Wellness Center that I never got the chance to pick up before going home. I had enough to tide me over for a couple months but ran out on the Fourth. Actually I ran out of the Zoloft on the third and the Wellbutrin on the fourth. I go into the pharmacy yesterday after I've already been off my meds for going on 24 hours. They tell me they will fax a refill request to my doctor but that it will take 2-3 days. I call my doctor's office to ask if they could expedite it only to find out he's on vacation for the whole week .
I call the Wellness Center to ask if they could somehow send the perscription over to the pharmacy only to find out the normal receptionist is out sick and the lady filling in can't do anything because she doesn't know what substances are controlled or not and la-die-da .
I wake up this morning and go to work. I've been off my Zoloft for the better part of 60 hours and off my Wellbutrin for going on 48 hours at this point. I would be a total wreck were it not for the Wellbutrin which has a much longer half life than Zoloft. I call the Wellness Center on my first break. The normal receptionist is back and tells me to tell the pharmacy to just fax the refill request to the Center. I go to the pharmacy to give them the message only to be told they've not been able to connect to any out-of-town phone lines since that morning (I live on an island in the summer).
 !!! !!! !!!
I return an hour before they close and they tell me they are just now able to connect to off-island numbers. I express my concern to the pharmacist and he tells me "I can't just hand out pills to people (as if I didn't know that)." He does say that if I show him my pill bottle even though it doesn't have any refills on the label he can give me enough to last for a few days. I only have my Zoloft bottle with me at the time but figure that's better than nothing. So now I'm hoping I will go in tommorrow and I can get both my perscriptions fully refilled. :coffee:
Sheesh. Talk about a cautionary tale. Don't make my mistake folks. :O_o:
