I wanted to join in this post but have been off line - I also think this question is so important and one which I have been struggling to answer to both myself and other people when they ask me why/how can I stay....
I have thought about leaving a zillion times over the many years I have been with him but what makes me stay is that my heart tells me it is the right thing to do.
I am no saint, I get frustrated, I am temperamental, demanding and caught up in my own career etc. Trust me, I am not your typical carer but I know his heart is good. He is a protector, a warrior and a survivor (which is how he ended up getting ptsd)
I can see him changing before my eyes and that is thanks to this site and for the invaluable information you have given me. I am no expert and I make mistakes (as my posts will reveal) but I am a fast learner and an avid reader. When you point me in the right direction I am off like a rocket and I am putting what I learn from you into practice and, for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
