A Thread Of Good Memories

Neat pic Iam. Thanks for posting. superjen...it's really just a psychedelic sunset and mountains :rofl:But like the say, "beauty" is on the eye of the beholder.
Anni - your paintings rock, just very nice and I'm not surprised you're commercially successful selling them. Really cool work. A lot of my "art" files are in native .psd and .ai files. This is just a little dealio, push button "art" done with gimp (the free version of Photoshop). It's really easy and fun, so thought I'd post. A fond remembrance of my "friend" the visiting grasshopper.

anni, this one's for you. Thanks for all the positive energy and wishing much continued success in your work. Used screen capture to snag an image of your fabulous Hummingbird piece, then edited it in gimp.

HA! That is awesome James! Hee! A new light shed on a light! The hummingbird is a mosaic-it's on glass, installed on a frame-lightbox, and has a switch on the cord. There are very cool stained glass tiles you can get pretty much anywhere-hee-my husband objects to coming home to my fingers allll bandaided up from cutting the big sheets so went this route. Thanks for liking the stuff but have zero illusions! :) it is what it is, kind of fun and deeply suspect sells because it's 'cool'. No false humilty, to be sure! Jen-if you're even on this thread suspect some creative impulses so bet you have 'stuff'! Or at least play-which is all it is on any level. Get some tile and bandaids-too much fun!

Whoa on the card, too James-there's a balance there tough to get in those teeny spaces. Hate cluttering up things just for the sake of sticking things in there and you didn't, I know, it works! I'm actually a little nutty about business cards in point of fact and am always vaguely annoyed ( without reason of course ) when handed a bland, white and black, just-the-facts-maam card. Wasted oppurtunity! :) There are hundreds of greattt designs on line here and there-believe me have browed for hours-and have not seen that 'take'. Everything in creation doen's have to be about $, but there's a market for that sort of thing, to be sure!

Still rather envious of the photographers out there. Even the tech-talk you folks are doing on the subject is rather delightful-but pics are better...... . That would be a hint.

For the first time in a very long time I can actually say I've got a good memory to share. Today I swam in the pool with my smart, beautiful granddaughter. I was able to hold her and play with her and she liked it. We had fun. Real fun. She lives very far away and I never get to see her.

I'm so happy for you Grama Herc! I love swimming, was a competitive swimmer for many years. Now I work out in the pool now and then, but the real fun is swimming with my granddaughters in a pool, lake or river doesn't matter much!

Good for you making new, happy memories!

Oh my. That's going to be a good memory for her also.Grandmom's cuddles-it's what I remember so young, bet she took it home. My grandson is going to be moving to Scotland this spring. Far. They're coming in a few weeks for a picnic so am now reminded to make memories then.

I am off soon to create another good memory. My hubby are going out to go play a round of golf in a bit. We may get caught in a rain storm though.....That would be a really fun memory! HA!

You are welcome James....thank you and the others for joining in. A friend suggested we do a timeline of good memories. Don't think she started one. Told my T about this thread and he thought it was a great idea too. Wants me to keep at it.

My hubby and I didn't play well, but sure had fun out on the course and it was great exercise! ;o)

So another good memory.....let's see...Aahhh got one!

We used to go to the annual frog jumping contest in a smalll mountain town called Angels Camp. You could buy bull frogs there but they always seemed lethargic, like they were drugged. My brother and I would go down to twin ponds (the same place with all the rattle snakes where we caught the huge tortise) the day before the event to catch bull frogs. Have you ever caught bull frogs? No? Well this is how you do it. Put a fly (a hand tied one not the insect LOL) on the end of your fishing line. Then you sneak up verrrrry slowly to the pond. Need to walk like an indian or the frogs will jump in the water. when you spot a frog (it has to be a big one cause you want to win the contest) you slowly put your rod out and bob the fly up and down in front of the frogs face. Guaranteed that they will go for it! They are heavy and jump around when you are reeling in...loads of fun! Of course you are covered with swampy smelling mud and frog pee by the time you get home but man...you know you've caught a winner!

At the fair you draw numbers for when you get to jump your frog. Now you must understand...there are people there that have spent time "training" their frogs to jump when they hear the sound of a clicker or whistle. Not us, we just used freshly caught frogs, their instincts are strong. When it's my turn I walk on to the stage and hold my frog up under it's armpits (do frogs have armpits?) so everyone could see what a big frog I possessed (no comments guys). Then I'd kneel down, put my frog on the starting spot (literally a red spot on the stage) stand and then jump up and down to scare my frog into jumping. The top 10 frogs that make the largest leap on the first day gets to go to the finals. Of course then you've got to catch your frog who's hopping all over the stage....kinda like going after a greased pig. Did I hear someone yell "REDNECK"?????? Ha...it was so fun!

I have NO WORDS for how much that post delighted me, Iams! Thank you sooo much! It's a bear of a 'time' at the moment, and that distraction was better than upping the Zoloft, which doesn't work anyway! :)

No offense to anyone-all has been delightful but loved this so much!
