Abusive Landlord

^Contradictory statement there unbrokenn...
Nope. What I meant was her expectations to not have a landlord who is abusive (in her perception) is realistic. I don’t agree much with what she wants to do and honestly I want them to communicate because both parties should. But the only person that can really challenge and change the perception of the situation is her. She in the end is the one who gets to choose what she does, and if she blocks the landlord. But that’s not the best choice at all.

she does not do well at performing her function. Took her two days to get a plumber out.

It can take a while to get an actual plummer out.

I've been at my apartment for 6 years now. Their maintance and maintance timeframes suck ass. When there is a clog or a leak they have to respond right away but its their maintance guys. Not an actual plummer. To get a plummer, it can take a few days. Just like if you owned a home. I had a maintance guy try to dry vac my clogged sink that WAS clogged due to the garbage disposal. After he did that for like an hour, in the middle of the night, I took a plunger when he went outside and got it unclogged myself. Sort of speaks for their maintance people.

That said, a plummer speaks directly to your landlord so I am not sure how you know what the cause of the clog is before the landlord. If it is in your lease that if you cause the clog then you pay for it and if the plummer says that's what caused then....then, that's what it is. But, not sure it's time to panic until the landlord tells you for sure what the plummer says. You can request a statement that shows it was the garbage disposal that she got from the plummer I am sure. If you are charged, ask for proof.

As for an abusive landlord, many States have "tenant right" laws. Florida has this and I had no idea they had this until my ex (who is an electrician) looked this up and learned that we could withhold rent until they put in GFI outlets in the kitchen and bathrooms. We had to write it out and the law is specific about what had to be done and how but the "tenant right" laws includes many things. I would look into that. If the landlord is actually abusive, I would see what your rights are in your State or area. It doesn't hurt to know these things anyway.
