do any of you attend Al anon meetings?

I attended one last week. Seemed to help.

I've been to three. My body work person goes and she says she finds them helpful and spiritually growing. I want to like them but I don't. I dislike being around others and the rituals remind me of church (I'm queer and my family was in an anti gay church so religious affiliations are something I'm sensitive to).

Not a supporter, but I attended AA, then AA and a year and a half of Al Anon and studied all the published materials... then I did a self study of ACOA - Adult Children of Alcoholics. Two active alcoholics in my family still one on mine, one on my mister's. Found them to be generally helpful but did better with the published book materials.

I just went to my first meeting today. I've been meaning to go for years and I'm really glad I went.
