Hi Hippieatheart!
I have experienced the same, and my heart goes out to you! It's very painful!
I ended up grieving, as if the people I loved had died - because the dynamics of relationships change when we change.
I believe when people are silent like this, many of them are frightened and don't know what to say, or do.
They don't know how to respond, and I think only a tiny fraction of all the people in the world know how to walk alongside you in difficult circumstances.
It's very, very good that you are starting therapy. I've found that, over time, my therapists who have remarkable gifts of understanding and healing wisdom, provide far more comfort, support and healing than any friend or family member could ever give. I can be comfortable around friends and family, and not expect much, because I no longer desperately need their understanding. I can interact with them at levels where they are most comfortable. I have my therapists, multiple resources (pets, nature, here, etc...), inner resilience and my faith. I am sad that I can't interact with my friends at the amazing, deep level that I can with therapists, but these people don't want to do the painful and vulnerable work to achieve that degree of connection.
I'm so sorry your cat has disappeared! Can you put up posters with her picture on it, and your tel #?
I've also gone to all the local veterinarians and animal shelters, providing them with pictures and contact info.. This helps a lot, and Good Samaritans come out to search - which is heart-warming! I hope she comes back, happy, healthy and jumping into your arms!
Wishing you comfort, peace, your cat coming back and a great bond with your therapist!
