Government must be funded by the people, by taxes, and limited.

I could not agree more. Big government inhibits the free market, which also inhibits personal freedoms. The trend to increase the size of government, control, and spending has to stop. Doesn't matter which party, but a balanced budget and budget cuts must happen. If I am to pay more tax, and cut my own budget; then the government should not be required to do less!!

No, real change cannot happen in one term, but I don't think the majority of American's agree with either party and most of us fall somewhere in the middle. Too bad all the money spent by special interests and the mud slinging by both parties couldn't have been put to better use...duh, like job creation?

Oh, and yes, some of healthcare reforms care wonderful, but the changes were implemented without the freedom of the markets to adequately meet the new and unique demands. But that would be a whole separate thread. Where are those groups or pools we were promised? Guess what...big business will get bigger as will government, and the rest of us will become so horribly dependent that we won't be able to climb out or just wealthier. The status quo is the death of the middle class.

It has been said that egocentrific people will be the bain of us all. I think that the "entitlement based majoriity" have forgotten to bother to balance their checkbook. I have no incentive to succeed in my country... and will only bother heretofore... to attempt to pace my productivity to the level necessary to provide for my own needs. I will not carry people who will not bother to help themselves... nor be inticed, by desirabale properties to be assessed taxes for the same. I intend to live nearly off the grid (Florida law says if I produce my own power I have to sell it and buy it back at the power company's rate)... for my twilight years. Let your own children bear your fiscal burden.

Personally, as Florida has been a nearly evenly divided state... and we have stict guidelines concerining a recount. In this election, I'm considering it a blessing, as at least we sat this one out.

Wow Alba, I see you are angry and I do understand where you are coming from. I respect your opinions and your God given right to have them, but lashing out at good people for doing the same is not the answer. I'm sorry you feel so hopeless about this country. I am so sorry things feel so out of shape for you and you feel like this country has failed you entirely, but I think being rude to someone who is kind to everyone is not the solution to your problem.

Western capitalism and the political class that run it is dying on it's ass....It's the end of an epoch, the dream is over. It's been years of bolstering a linear fantasy of abundance and we've consumed our own fuel many times over.

The whole world needs to adapt to a long game, a lot longer than a four year term. We have to get familiar with our own infallibility again because it's coming back to bite us. I'm glad Obama won, the economic issues are ultimately resource issues and I don't want someone presiding over it with dollar signs in their eyes.

Geez-third time I've tried to post this..ok..one more time.

Conservatism didn't lose last night, Santa Clause won. It is hard for 50.01% of the United States of America, who like to sit around smokin' pot, and drinkin' jack, waiting to collect their welfare check to just say no to obama. obama knows this and caters to these voters specifically. This is America as we know it today.

49.99% of Americans are hard-core bible-totin', gun carrying, believing in God, capitalist cowboys, myself included. Anthony recognizes this in his post:

As Albatross says in her previous post (I am unable to quote it or I will have to redo this post for a fifth time): she refuses to go on food stamps. I will say: I would rather die than collect one single food stamp or go on welfare. I am a doctor but would rather work at the corner gas station than collect welfare.

Like Albatross, I am off the grid. I have solar panels for my five-acre farm, have a hydroponic operation for growing vegetables run off solar power, and have further plans to become self-sufficient. But I am fighting foreclosure. My lawyer says I have a good case, due to the corruption of the Bank of America. My gun is my first best friend...all I can say is please pray for our once great nation.

America got what it deserved and what it voted for. Now I am turning my back on it and leaving it the people who want to destroy it.

Let's not forget obama turning his back on Israel; also allowing those four brave men to die in Libya on "american soil" on 9/11 and covering it up saying it was a youtube video; wearing a ring that says Allah is the one and only God; and having no balls, allowing the muslim world to burn in protest all over the globe the past couple month.

God have mercy on us all.

I guess one concerning aspect, beyond the above, is one point mentioned about the middle class becoming more infringed. The wealthy are only wealthy due to the middle class. Without them, no more wealth. In fact, history has depicted that when the middle class become too restless, the wealthy lose everything due to an uprising. I think there are enough nations having proved that one already. Rich today is tomorrows poor if you piss the middle class off too much and they turn on you. This is not exclusive to America, as the middle class are being affected primarily globally with rising costs, and that creates stability issues for all concerned, history has dictated.
