Today was a good day at work. I noticed a student in obvious pain (holding his side and crunching down) and when I asked if he was okay, he said, "yes, thank you". I asked security to keep an eye on him as he was going from one building to another (we have 3 buildings). Security came to me and said she found him sprawled out across bldg. A and B, but when asked if he was okay, he said yes and got up (yes, I know she should have called for an ambulance). I asked where he was and after an intense search, we found him.
I talked to him for a bit and he admitted to a medical problem, but it is usually not this bad and he has a doctors appt, but he needed to finish his finals first (what a trooper). After talking with him, I found out he didn't want to tell his mom because she would worry. He seemed so scared and out of nowhere, he put his arms around me and just started crying :wideeyed:. I'm sure I looked like I was fish out of water, but I didn't freak out (although I did wonder why all the medical issues happen in my vicinity). Eventually, after getting him to calm down, I convinced him to go to the urgent care now and worry about his finals later. Ambulance came and left and I thought to myself, "Hey, I let someone in my space". Seems little, but that is a big accomplishment for me. :joyful:
