Another Ft Hood Shooting

There's no doubt the proliferation of the media and internet with instant everything is part of the problem as well as reporting on everything. Today people 'tweet' when the brush their teeth.

I think some radical changes occurred that, unfortunately, started with our generation. My and our parents were tough, with real rules and punishments for acting inappropriately. Were they too hard, everyone has to answer that themselves but I knew what was right and what was wrong. There were repercussions for your actions. Today they take the kid to a counselor and give them more meds. I'd have to clean the garage, cellar and mow the lawn for the season as well as NO TV for months. Tough but effective.

Oh, and when did flip-flops (shower shoes) become something you wear to school, church, ect. ??????? Sorry, you got me on a roll now.

Throwing out meds to resolve things now is a medical norm, sadly. The biggest example I give on that one is the nick name for my local VA which is "Pill Hill".

That flip flop thing pisses me off too. We're not at the f*cking beach or at the local swimming pool. These are the same f*ck faces that wear sweat pants everywhere, even to court.

One thing I hated about the hippy days were jeans with holes in them. (Who hit you with a frag?) Not that they have to be brand new but really, when you can see the underwear? And this thing of letting the pants go down so low your balls show just frosts me.

OCD, hmm, yeah from here. Your post made me smile. Nice to know I'm not alone with these thoughts.

I have to wonder, though, if our parents said the same things about the 'younger generation' when they were our age. Probably.

But of course today, YIKES!

I miss Ft.Hood but I know from experience there is a ton of violent shit that happens that never sees the light of day there. I think its a given considering the type and most importantly the size of the population there, still miss the Hood though. The last shooting almost delayed my Honorable discharge after 7 years of service as I still had to clear the pdhra center and had to wait for them to open a new one with less than 2 weeks left in service. I still remember that day I got stopped by the golf course by mp's becouse at first they thought there was more than one shooter. Crazy shit.
