I'm beginning to think we all suffer whiplash to some extent. You got war, "hey loady, get your ass over there and get those troops loaded" (instant compliance), mortars, 155mm, four turboprop engines screaming, everything in the background just loading up your adrenalin. "move, move, move, we're wastin daylight", small arms fire in the west. In or out, I think.

Snap. You're sitting in your living room, struggling to sit still, gotta go! gotta go! But where? To what?

One moment you're in the jungle/sand/Belgrade, the next....nothing.

I read a story once that may explain why WWII Vets seemed to not suffer the fullest extent of PTSD. It's because they spent weeks? Months? on troop ships coming home. They were allowed to decompress with men they fought shoulder to shoulder with and that helped. Today, you finish patrol duty and grab your duffle and step onto the 130.

No decompression, no support from your squad, just that godawful silence that screamed, surrounded by strangers.

There is a Dr. that I'm head over heels in love with. Her name is Dr. Bridget Cantrell. She runs an outfit called Hearts Toward Home. She goes down and meets with the troops as they come off the plane. With the wives. And everybody sits down and she starts ticking off..."O.K., be aware of this and this and that". And completely goes down the line of what to expect, who to talk to, ect.

I really think she makes a big difference. I know I damn well would have appreciated someone debriefing me.

Ah, blathering again.

Sarg

she will mail the books to you for free if you ask nice. Google her and write a nice email and Bam! they show up in the mail for free. Cant say enough goodness about that.

 Blond and blue eyes. OFFS that is a recipe for disaster.

Only blonds I was ever with were a pain on the arse and allways bitching.

Better of with a Brunette or jet black, unless you want fun in the sack then get a real Red head.

But stay away with blonds  honestly, nowt but trouble

Hey, my lady of thirty-three years was a blond (natural). Pennsylvania-Dutch stock. Stubborn as a rock. Smile that would light up the whole damn room. Smart, tough and very missed.

...........very missed.Sarg

She is still with you Sarg. you know she is.

Those that touch us the deepest leave something you couldn`t wash of with acid.

She done damn good preping you for your years alone. Respect for that.

33 years, damn I must be getting old. We (the misses and me) celebrate our 20 married and 22 together this year. I would like to think we will make 33 aswell. Most brothers I knew when in green all devorced by 5 years.

Guess Stubborn is a good thing.

Besides having a heart the size of a watermelon, she's knock-dead gorgeous!

Ah, she is a looker, isn't she. Tugs at my Swedish heritage.

I'm gonna have to look into getting her books... and no, I don't mind coughing up the cash for them. I may send her an email regardless, to thank her for the work she's doing. At the very least, she's renewed my faith that not ALL people are shit-stains.
