Pity the guy. I've always thought it must be incredibly stressful for those people who wander around applying their own personal religious standards to everyone else's lives. Must set them up for a stomach ulcer or two. Sad really.

I think humans are naturally predisposed to judge, even if they try not to. Personally I try and point out to myself "wow, you just judged a total stranger, hypocrite." Things that are not understood by us seem to require some label in order to make sense in our world. So we make judgements based on what little we have. We try and determine what is right, wrong, safe, dangerous, or just plain questionable. Then we act on our judgment accordingly. I sure do try, but still find myself taking mental note of how dirty, lazy, or violent, etc someone appears. And that makes me extremely self conscious and anxious of what others determine about me. The reasonable response to that guy would be, "fine, then I don't want you talking to me." But that's not how I'd feel, it would weigh on my mind forever, even if not necessary.
