New Here
Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm 19 and just got back into therapy and was diagnosed with CPTSD. My mom was very neglectful, and emotionally abusive. I don't have many memories of my childhood at all. Literally maybe 4 or 5 up until the age of 14. I still feel like there is something more there though, like she did something worse. Does anyone else experience a similar feeling? The anxiety day in and day out between therapy sessions is driving me crazy(er). I just went today to get meds that are supposed to help and was given geodon, clonodine, and klonopin. The geodon was given in a million samples to me since I have no health insurance and I haven't had time to get to the pharmacy yet for the other two. Would you believe geodon is 800.00 without insurance per month?! I guess I'm just looking for advice and to know someone else understands what I'm feeling

Hey Kton! Welcome to the site.

I had a very similar situation, mum was neglectful and emotionally abusive, and I have no memories of under 11, and blurred ones of 11 - 14. I always used to think I was adopted as there's no photos of me as a toddler and that sort of age (when there's loads of my brother). I used to have bad anxiety, but that almost all went when I moved out - and my grades went up considerably as well!

I can't offer much advise, but I do fall into the category of someone who understands.

Did your doctor put you on all those meds at the same time? As in, did he prescribe them all to you for the first time?

Yeah he did. I've been on meds before when I was hospitalized and we went through the ones that have worked and these were the ones they suggested. For anxiety and sleep and racing thoughts

So you haven't been on these particular meds before?

Did your doctor take your blood pressure?

I have been on clonodine before and geodon. Not klonopin. And I saw a NP but no she didn't take my blood pressure

Ok I was concerned that you went on all three for the first time, that's all. I asked about blood pressure because clonodine can lower blood pressure, quite dangerously so it's important to have it monitored. I was on the smallest possible dose and it made me stagger around like I was drunk and I fell over in the shower, and this was even with monitoring.

Have you been on klonopin? The first hope is that my anxiety will reduce enough so I can tolerate more in depth therapy

Yes, I have. (I've been on all three, just not at the same time.) It works for a lot of people, but it was way too strong for me. I now take Ativan which isn't as long lasting, but I still have to take it very sparingly because I do experience negative effects from it.
