Hi everyone
It's been a long time since I posted - I hope you are well...
I wondered if there is anyone on here who has supported their partner for a long time with their PTSD?
We have been together 28 years... dealing with PTSD for about 11 years - severe PTSD for about 8 years.... another tough time and big argument last night.... I am wiped out today...
I wondered how you cope after a long time of having PTSD in your life?

With love and thanks, Sunshine x

My parents met in 1965, married in 1971. My dad went to war the same year. They're still together. How do they cope? I think there is a lot of space in their togetherness if that makes sense. My mum does not appear codependent. She has @Sweetpea76 's zen attitude to his PTSD, drinking etc and has her own busy and fulfilling life.

I'm nearly 5 years into my relationship with a combat vet. I'm yet to get to that zen point.

J and i have been together 5 1/2 years too. He was my hs sweetheart back in the nineteen hundreds. Lol

He joined the service in 85 & we reconnected 27 years later. He was diagnosed in the 90's but back then all the VA did was throw drugs at everyone.

Now he's in a program and we're working very hard to have a good life. So far so good.

Dated my sufferer 25+ years ago. Been married going on 11 years. I knew she had childhood and early adult trauma. She was diagnosed with C-PTSD a few years ago.

I didn’t have the skills to cope well till I got here about a year ago at the end of my rope. She is trying to manage her illness in therapy. I’m trying to be a better supporter.
