I am not going to have that discussion about a trauma therapist again with you
@SeanCharles, because then I am supporting you in your endless ruminations, and I care too much about you to do that. I don't want to talk about what you can't do or are blocked from doing. I want to hear about the choices that you are making today to make yourself better.
I want to hear about what you are actually doing to work on your recovery.
How are you disputing your distorted cognitions? (Have you read the book "Feeling Good"?)
What skill in DBT are you practising today? (http://www.dbtselfhelp.com/ it is free and you can spend five minutes reading there right now)
Have you watched youtube today and found out all you can on David Burns? (It is free!)
Have you watched everything on youtube that Marsha Linehan talks on? (It is free!)
Have you today listened to a three minute Mindfulness guided audio (free off the franticwork website).
What are you doing to self soothe yourself today? (Not lists of reasons and prolonged discussions and monologues about why you can't do it)
What are you doing for one minute to make your life better than it is?
What exercise and stress relief are you doing today to make your life better than it is? (Not lists of reasons and prolonged discussions and monologues about why you can't do it)
I want the list of the stepping away from the computer every half an hour to walk around the room type of stuff.
What routines and practice have you put in today for your own healing? (Not lists of reasons and prolonged discussions and monologues about why you can't do it)
What did you do in the first five minutes of your day to nurture and care for yourself? (Not lists of reasons and prolonged discussions and monologues about why you can't do it)
It is very different when talking to new members because they are just learning their away around the site and their recovery.
But you have been here for a couple of years and you have to make the decision for yourself.
Will I keep doing what I have always done so I keep getting the results that I am living with each day?
Or
Will I start doing things one minute per day to work on changing myself and will I choose to do the 10,000 hours that everyone who wants mastery of a new skill has to do?
I am the avoidance, dissociation and distraction Queen so I have immense compassion for what you are going though, but I am not going to be a part of it with you. Just like I have to make my own way, you have to make your own way as well.
You deserve a heck of a lot better than what you are getting - so how are you going to break it down to 1 minute tasks in order to get yourself the good stuff that you need and want? You deserve the good stuff in life!
