BethRSA - this is my first post on this site - just signed up. I am almost in your exact line up. Older sister (2yrs, 4 mo.), miscarriage between myself and her, and one younger sister (1 year, 3 mo.). Very interesting to see that middle is the highest on the poll. My older sister has confirmed memories, my younger had MPD (Mulitple Personality Disorder) but has been "intigrated". Younger sis has memories, too, and my father had a slew of them when he was around 50. It was his father/my grandfather. The memories my older sis has is also of the father of sisters that she & I were friends with and had sleepovers with. I'm the only one in my family that still can't remember and the least functional of the family. I was clinically diagnosed with PSTD over 10 years ago and went to therapy for multiple sessions over the course of about 3 years and still live in limbo...wonder if middle children suppress more, leading to more PTSD??

I was the first born. I have a brother who is 2 years younger then me.

Growing up I felt an obligation to protect him whenever and however I could. Sometimes this was difficult b/c my father would hit my brother if my brother did not hit me hard enough. Still, I felt obligated to protect my brother, even though he was physically stronger then me.

Currently my brother is not speaking to me. The last time he came up to Atlanta with his girlfriend, I was in the middle of a drinking binge and had flashed back to a rape I experienced as an adult. This was very hard for both of them to hear, Jeff covered his hears and went "la la la la la". His girlfriend left him over the incident as she had never seen anything like it in her nice functional family. I am glad they got back together.

It makes me very sad that this is yet another family member I cannot see due to this illness. I miss my brother very much, and want the best for him. I understand that it is too traumatic for him to see me or speak to me right now, and I am trying to respect his decision. Its tough, but I think he made the right choice to protect himself.

I am the oldest child, my sister is 3yrs younger than I and my only sibling. My parents never let me forget that I was the oldest for I had to endure more stress from my parents because 'the older sibling has to set a good example for the younger sibling and show more responsibility' :rolleyes:

I was always the "good girl." Of course by the time parents divorced & remarried others, the abuse had already happened & was being repressed. I just tried to stay out of everyone's way and not cause any trouble; that was my full sister's job - she was constantly getting into some kind of trouble.

I've always felt like an accident and that my mother didn't want me. I guess that helps me explain why she treated me so poorly.

I'm the third of four. my brother & sister are 2yrs apart, then me 7yrs later 7 my younger brother 7yrs after me.
I've never felt I fitted or had anything in common with my sister or younger brother. Thankfully my elder brother has always been my hero!

I'm the oldest of four-there's me, then 18 months later my first brother. I'm four years older than my second brother and I'm eight years older than my sister. My parents were 22 when they had me and they'd been married for a year.
