I think so. I've only made pecan pie twice, and I've not had treacle tart for many years but yeah, think they're prolly loosely similar.
According to recipes I’d guess not. The treacle tart calls for bread crumbs and lemon. Pecan pie is more of a sugar fest. But to be fair I haven’t eaten it. They look the same.

I did that due to the 1am-4am free omelet bar at the hospital, (OMFG, love!), when my kid was sick. :(I gained 20 pounds while isolating during the pandemic thanks to Twinkies.
We do it everywhere. I dunno, it's probably a cultural thing. We are sort of a "we" country, most people gladly pay our enormous taxes.
Well, it depends of course. I think most of us are happy with tax-funded ("free") education and health-care. Equal opportunities for everyone. Also, it's kinda hard to be lonely here. Considering our small size and so many communities for everything. Relatively safe, with strict gun laws, I think that's good.
