ive heard this a couple times... i dont get it.

Fork in right hand...knife in left. When you want to cut something you swap...Fork goes in left hand...cut with your right. Then swap back.

Being able to drive on either side of the road isn’t that difficult, you get used to it very quickly going between countries. For a year I drove a car with the wheel on the wrong side for the driving side where I lived. Just as possible, if less instinctive.

I LOVE the Chinese approach to fork and knives. Knives are a weapon used to hurt or kill, hence they have absolutely no place on a table.

And also weird in terms of fork-and-knife eating: Many (most?) Americans cut everything first, and than just eat everything with the fork instead of slowly working your way through your food with both fork and knife.

To be fair, the British are at fault for the weird way we eat. The whole “Illegal to hold a knife in one’s hand unless cutting meat & is punishable by being shot” = the fork and knife crossover thing we do.

In my personal experience it's actually the other way around and some countries are just "unreasonably" cheap

When I was in NZ, my American and Canadian-living-in-US colleagues were complaining about prices all the time and for me it was just...uhm...normal?

^I don't know what this means.

If you want to pay more for basic stuff - fine. But, I think you will find that if you look properly you will find that NZ charges 15% for gst and Australia charges 10% - that's just one example.
