My mister's aunt and cousin are intending to ride it out in St. Petersburg... considering the shape the house is in it's a mistake. They don't feel like they have a way to even board up. Looks like it could be a cat 2 or 3 still when it goes there. Stressed sme for them but we have had the discussions, that's all we can do. She's now walking disabled in addition to grossly obese (his aunt)... and she just kept telling my husband, "I can't".

State Attorney General has a hotline for reporting price gougers - 1-866-9-NO-SCAM.

Also: Florida is asking for 1,000 volunteer nurses to step forward to help at special needs shelters across the state - "Please email [email protected] " also, for non nursing various organizations are in need of volunteers, Gov. Scott is urging Floridians to visit www.volunteerflorida.org to sign up for volunteering opportunities. Scott said about 17,000 volunteers would be needed, but only 4,000 had signed up so far. (might be worth putting up on facebook, twitter or whatever)

That's not smart! The skyway is the only bridge to and out of St Pete. Those that try to ride out dangerous hurricanes in St Pete have severely regretted the decision afterwards. There is a service for those that need to evac but can't due to disability as well as buses taking evactutees out of the area. St Pete is not a place to be. Espcially with the more West turn. The eye is going straight through Tampa as a Cat 3 and then storm surges are expected to be the worst in history. St Pete maybe under water. If you want the info about help to evacuate I can get it off channel 13. Bay news 9 is their local 24 hr news channel. Google that and I am sure it's on there but I know Orlando's channel 13 has mentioned it often.

ETA: Once they close the skyway then they are stuck but if it's not closed yet, I would push to evacuate to at least Orlando. Our mayor told us that we are on one of the highest ground in the State, inland enough to not have to worry about storm surges and if you need to be anywhere in the State to ride out the hurricane, Orlando would be it. That's why so many are evacuating here.

Yeah well, we know it's not smart, but it's not up to us. We've had communication and they didn't change their mind. Sunshine skyway or not... termite damaged home or not... she ain't budging nor is the cousin and neither sees fit to even board up. So all we can do is leave em to it and hope for the best.

I wish my neice was like you. She's freaking out and I'm like god damn man! I will leave if its warrented but it's not! It's just not.

Tailstorms are building. My biggest issue, as I can see now, is freaking needing tires. The water pooling on the streets. Not flooding. Just a lot of rain and it's pooling. Winds are picking up but not too bad. We are on the wrong side of this hurricane now though. Possible tornadoes. Blah! I may just call into work tomorrow. They sent an email out about if it's not safe to drive home tomorrow they have toothbrushes, food, water etc. I'm like "what?" No! If it's that bad or potionally that bad I'm calling in! Especially because I have animals! I mean come on! Many called in today and it wasn't that bad. I will not go to work if it's even predicting that bad of conditions that I couldn't get home!

I would think that during a hurricane that people would be a little more understanding as to why their TV went out. But I imagine there are still those that want to know when it will be on again!!!:banghead:

I don't work in video repair. I work in internet and mid Sept trained for VOP phone. The internet is now considered one of the main top communications and in general Charter is classified as a communications company thus need to stay open during emergencies up to a point. An extreme point but still there is a up to a point there lol. Mostly we have folks calling about no internet, no phone (no internet means no phone) and most of the calls are connecting to a family's/friend's wifi, wifi not connecting/need wifi key, connecting to the currently free hotspots, and thinking the Spectrum tv app is currently also free w/o a tv sub and that's not true. So, yeah.

We have just overall raining conditions. No wind currently. I filled the bath tub which I doubt will hold the water so I also filled Chopper's unused elevated bowl and all of the projections say we won't see it really until after I leave from work but due to possible tornadoes, I will be watching the free stream on the News 13 website all day as I did yesterday. Surfing the internet is a no no even between calls but I aint gonna be in the dark all day so an exception needs to be made and understanding deployed. But, I'm at work.

I don't know if it is a control thing... I stayed for Harvey, it was the dirty side, but it was really just a bunch of rain and 16 tornado warnings (none of them hit anywhere, except for 1 that wasn't in my county). It was more tropical storm-like when it dumped 51 inches of rain on my house. But my sister is in Orlando and didn't evacuate. Hell, many people evacuated to there. I am afraid of the dirty side hitting her. Irma seems worse to me. I don't know. I am just trying to not let my anxiety rev up on this one.

That's what I said! It's the highest point in Florida and so inland enough and our mayor said that if anyone is anywhere in the State, this is where you want to be.

Not too bad at all yet. Off and on bad rain, puddling the roads, some winds but not ramped up yet as the worst is supposed to be tonight into tomorrow morning. This side of it isn't good due to tornadoes but hell, I lived just outside Kansas City, KS for 7.5 yrs and have seen many of tornadoes. I do wish we had tornado horns though as there is no warning but I'm sure we'll be ok. Have Channel 13 live stream up on the PC and just keeping an eye out.
