    Great question. The longer you stay, the more trauma you will encounter. We all have our limits. I was in law enforcement and stayed too long and it almost killed me. Godspeed.

    Spent 35 years in law enforcement, 2yrs as a 911 Operator followed by 33yrs as a street cop. I was diagnosed with ptsd 11 yrs in to my career. Back then options for treatment were scant at best. I stayed on 24 more years which was 24 yrs more than I should have. I guess things have changed a lot since then with benefits/coverage for ptsd.

    Bottom line though, if I could have a do over, I would choose a different career path all together.
