Hi indigo
Your trauma doesn't sound petty, it actually sounds extraordinarily full-on.
I've only been diving about five times, but I had an awesome time, and it must be painful for you to know that you can't do it anymore.
I'm in Perth, I think you're the only other member here that is remotely close to where I am. I've been down to Denmark a few times. You're right, you are lucky. That region is magnificent. You'd be hard pressed to find a better place to be managing a severe mental illness.
You might want to take it easy on the ganja. That shit is responsible for a lot of people's mental health issues. Recent studies are showing some alarming (but long suspected) connections between marijuana use and the development of such mental illnesses as schizophrenia; obsessive-compulsive disorder; generalised anxiety disorder, and PTSD.
Marijuana weakens your psychic integrity and makes you more vulnerable to stress. It cultivates paranoia; lethargy and apathy.
Marijuana is represented in popular culture entertainment (i.e. That 70s Show; Harold and Kumar go to White Castle; Weeds) as a harmless, socially acceptable, recreational drug. As a result, its use has come to be seen as something that is comical and normal. In reality it's not. Marijuana is dangerous. It ****s up people's lives. Not as commonly, and usually not to the extent of drugs like crystal meth; but it does its fair share of damage.
With your condition, the stability and integrity of your mind is already compromised. You do not want to be compounding that effect with substances, like marijuana, or any other drugs or alcohol for that matter.
