Research Benefits Of Loving-kindess Meditation

My female therapist often reads a wonderful one to me while I meditate... She usually picks from Tara Brach, Pema Chodron, and lately from Stephen Levine's beautiful book:"Healing into Life and Death".

My male T often ends our sessions with teaching me chants, the ones I need right now are the Healing/Heart/Metta Sutras.
He has a wonderful, calming voice and the chants are so lovely...
He also reads something very appropriate to the session from a wide range of sources (some favorites include Thich Nhat Hanh, Rumi, Lama Surya Das, Jack Kornfield, and many others... ) all giving me very powerful concepts to meditate on between sessions.

The chanting is wonderful and seems to reach areas in the brain or psyche that aren't reached as quickly by reading or talking.
To teach me to chant about lovingly, happily taking care of myself, seems to slip more easily past the self-loathing and is helping me to treat myself with the loving care I strive to give others, but normally withhold from myself.

Just thinking about the chants is instantly calming...
(Yawning, I think I can sleep now:sleep: G'night, thank you:tup::sleep:)

Thank you @ Chava for that loving kindness link I have listened to it a few times. I am always looking for any good meditation practices it really helps me :)

@Chava ....still in the swing?

I found that out of all the styles of meditation, loving kindness for self, others and the world works for me as my over all security net & uplift most of the time. Breathing meditation is excellent to stopgap over-reaction or anger action and allow my transitioning to the heart work with clearer boundaries.

However, if I am in a rat-tail mood, I may not be able to meditate compassion for the big picture, but merely a tight inner circle of a few. This I do not judge anymore...offering only some findings.:hug:

Thanks for posting @Recovery4Me ....no I totally fell apart on this, but a reminder helps. I wanted to "center" more through sound meditation things first, then try to get to this space. Not sure why it's so complicated!!! May has been a bit of a big scramble though. But still...gotta just do it.

I understand...it's an honest to goodness journey. I use sound meditation as well for crisis stopping of rumination.
I have one video that helps like a zap in my ole' firing pattern, interrupting anything.:sneaky: It is 5 minutes and played loud makes me want to swat it until I become more..."ah loving":clown: However it will not take here at this time.

My links to Tibetan Singing bowls assist as well. Happy journey to you.:hug:

I could maybe add loving kindness into my singing bowl meditation, which feels pretty good. Maybe establish the sound part a bit more. Then sneak in the new bit. Arrrgh, it's hard. I do not settle.
