Can any combat veterans recommend the best books you would recommend for Complex PTSD?
I've seen a few listed here but there don't seem to be geared at Combat PTSD.
THANK YOU SO MUCH.

"Once A Warrior - Always A Warrior" is on combat PTSD but I am not sure what complex PTSD is.

Complex PTSD is a psychological injury that results from protracted exposure to prolonged social and or interpersonal trauma in the context of dependence, captivity or entrapment, which results in the lack or loss of control....

Thanks for your recommendation. The sarcasm isn't needed. I thought this would be a place where I would find support but the lack of empathy I've seen is disgusting. Sorry I bothered your day with a simple question as I do my best to help my combat vat and myself.

Sarcasm? Where? I was not being sarcastic. Was a reply deleted?

Just in case you got me wrong. "Once A Warrior - Always A Warrior" is a book on combat PTSD by Charles Hoge. So this was basically not a sarcastic comment but a book recommendation.

I'm a bit unclear what OP is asking for - title says combat but post says complex AND combat .. they are different, so just looking for some clarification ...

I think there are a lot of resources for combat PTSD - a little easier to find and recognize because of warrior related titles, but not as easy to find resources for complex .. but if you search for books regarding complex TRAUMA you might have more luck.

There is a school of thought that some Combat PTSD may actually be Complex PTSD. My vet saw a psychiatrist in the hospital that believed that he may have Complex PTSD from his Combat traumas. The reasoning being that he was on a small FOB in a particularly active and violent area and patrolled outside the wire pretty much daily for over a year. There were multiple firefights, multiple IED attacks, and a lot of action. That is where the "prolonged exposure" aspect of Complex PTSD comes into play.

Well, given that CBT is the recommended treatment for all sufferers, the OP is a sufferer, and reacted in a way that would have been helped by CBT skills, my reply was serious. Mind reading was indeed going on, and CBT is a skill set that helps to eliminate mind reading. Since the OP also has PTSD, its not a bad recommendation TBH.
