Big Test Today

I have a very important skills test today in my First Responder class. It's a make or break deal. Three pages of patient assessment ...verbalizing it exactly and doing the hands on exam in a scenario. I ahve been studying and practising, etc. But this PTSD flare (heading into month3) has my brain stuck in first gear and the memory ability of a snail. Plus, I panic and sieze up in these 'performance
things. AAACCCCKKKK!!!

So...please send any positive thoughts/energy/ extra brain cells my way at between 9-12 PST (not sure exact time.). Thanks!

Good Luck!

Keeping positive thoughts going for you too!.

Hey, used to be EMT and Paramedic! Keep your phone on and I'll be your cheat sheet! LOL!

Remember: A.....B......C......D

Best of luck.

Hope that things went well for you, and you aced the test!!!!!

Thanks guys! It worked!!! I nailed it...lots of breath work, self talk and a little positive dissociating:rolleyes:

This such a HUGE morale booster for me. For at least the last three months I have felt like such a wimp...loser...incompetent. Forgetting where I live...where I am supposed to be when...what I am supposed to bring...etc. Concentration ...can't get thru a newspaper article, a conversation or a trip to the store...really bad. Practically needing a nap after getting from one end of the house to the other...and it's a very small cottage.

I really want this and to succeed at it. Been studying and practising in 15 min chunks...then taking a nap. I have to sit in the back of the class...there are 30 people (mostly guys, all in uniform) and that's all big time trigger. Thank god I was on meds before the first hands on labs on each other! This was the hardest part of the class...hump day. I have struggled every step of the way and I am amazed and proud of myself being able to do something this intense during such a nasty flare. Gives me hope.

Off to take a nap and have a little cry...

YAY!!!! WONDERFUL job Paloma!!! Good for you! (honestly, your post made me break out in goosebumps!)

Every little (or big!!) victory should be celebrated. xo

Way to go,
Grainne :)

What an accomplishment!! :thumbs-up I'm so proud and excited for you!
I know that when you are reflecting on this growth, you will be so happy..

If things get tough later down the road, think on this intense barrier you have jumped over and know that you can do it again and are worth it!!!

Thanks for making me smile today.
