I am typically a side sleeper and I wake in the middle of the night or in the morning with a very stiff neck...

If you don't do this already, try disconnecting from technology at least 2 hours before your bedtime. No computers, no smartphones, no TV. Also don't read newspapers or anything that might be upsetting/get your mind going during that time. Read a book (the old fashioned kind made of paper!), go for a walk or talk with someone about casual topics (talking on the phone's OK, just no texting). Could any of this help?

Oh and recently I have started with magnesium supplement, I get the fizzy kind, that's been good f...

I am going to try the magnesium...it's worth a try!

I used to jerk a lot while sleeping. I found out that I have Sleep Apnea, and after using the CPAP for a year, I actually reach REM sleep, and the jerking has pretty much stopped.

The jerking may have been my brain keeping me breathing .
I was having MANY episodes of my breathing stopping.

My psychiatrist (who has sleep apnea) said he would prescribe Sleep Studies for ALL of his patients who have continuing symptoms of depression/anxiety after meds don't help. Unfortunately, Sleep Studies have to be ordered by General Physicians or a Pulmonologist here in the States.
