finally accepting its got to be faced

reading section explaining how normal all these feelings are ..which was lovely

certainly not going to wait a year for therapy , if I cant get any I will start tackling this myself !!!
 
Yes, and it's a reason it's reassuring to be here in the forum too. Seeing all this described as 'normal' is just a big, huge relief, I know. Seeing others posting about feelings and behaviors which are really similar tends to be awfully validating also, for whatever reason, at least for me personally.

I hope you can find relief and information here as well, while waiting to get into therapy. There always seems to be an article which answers some question one has been thinking of, or re-reading one you understand something better than you had earlier.

Good for you, Bluebeard!!!

You might want to look at some of psychologist and author Dr. Peter A. Levine's trauma books, as well.
He uses a very powerful form of therapy which utilizes your body's own natural abilities to heal.
One of my trauma counselors has begun utilizing this with me, and it is helping a lot!
(In his latest book, Dr. Levine starts off with one of his own experiences, of being hit by a car as he was crossing the street. He really put his trauma knowledge to use to help him recover quickly.)

two others I have picked up , from the same basic NHS CBT series are overcoming panic and overcoming anxiety

Hello bluebeard, have you heard of books on prescription.

This is a range of books recommended by the NHS and available free through local libraries. Just google books on prescription for more details or ask your GP. I used it and got three books out which helped tide me over till I saw a counsellor.
