Relationship Can I Get A Magic Wand Or Something?

So...my boyfriend suffers from severe PTSD (childhood abuse and then combat) and alcoholism. He refuses to get help because "I'm a Marine, I'm fine," and he's got a phobia of medication. I've brought up going to the VA before, and he gets visibly angry, saying that all they want to do is dope him up on pills and make him catatonic, they don't want to help him, they don't care, et cetera. He can't hold a job, he can't relate to people, he gets to the point where he wants to fight people if they look at him wrong (he's never EVER been violent towards me, but....)

So, he medicates with alcohol. He quit drinking for a full week once, and he seemed to be doing alright; no flashbacks, no violent thoughts, he wasn't sleeping but even when he IS drinking, he's passed out, not sleeping. He was motivated and seemed to be happy, and then as soon as he was hanging out with some friends and had alcohol available, he picked it up again.

Anyway, I guess I'm at a loss. Everyone has a breaking point, and I'm getting close to that. I want to help him, but he needs professional help and refuses to get it.
