I had a bad car accident a few months ago. Now I have PTSD I get flashbacks and have trouble sleeping.
This was me 4 years ago. I bad car crash, started my journey with PTSD.

I worked with an amazing trauma therapist who did EMDR with me. It was one of the hardest things I have done and it raised issues from my childhood. I was sceptical about EMDR and CBT but was in such a bad place I'd try anything.

I am so pleased I listened to my therapist. This forum helped me so much as well, just knowing I was not alone. I was also lucky that I have an amazing hubby and supportive family.

I am now managing my symptoms, okay I have bad days but have the tools to help myself.

Linking arms - you are not alone. PC me if you want to talk.

Thanks DMerish I'm from Canada what is a FMLA?

I sure feel for you . . . I'm headed for retirement in a few years too, and the thought of being laid-off or fired (though the latter is unlikely) is very scary for me. It was a primary reason why I decided to take medication. I just can't afford to screw up at work.

I apologize for not defining the FMLA acronym. It's a USA term for the "Family Medical Leave Act". When it's put into effect, it prohibits an employer from firing someone while they address their health/medical condition or the health/medical condition of a family member. Canada enacted similar laws, but I don't know the formal name. I think your union representative would help you there.

To people saying "It must be nice to have so many days off", you could kindly reply with "I'm not taking days off. I'm dealing with (a family ?) medical issue" - that should shut them up!

Again, I urge you to get help and maybe medication and do what you need to to keep your job.
I'm sorry I didn't explain what I was talking about earlier.

I burned out from being a workaholic a year and a half ago and since my threshold for stress is very different. I've been in CBT therapy almost a year now. I've tried going back to work but haven't been able to find anything I can tolerate. It bothers me that I don't know if I'll ever be able to hold down a job again because I've taken care of myself and have held down a steady job and paid my own way since I was fifteen.

Thanks everyone for your advice. It is so nice to have people who understand what your going through
